2nd chemo and all’s well

Long long ago when this morning began…

Valerie’s day: Bloodwork analysis, 8 a.m. (all excellent). Chemo infusion 8:45-5:00. Stripey socks and a gleaming head. Friends visiting in shifts the entire time. No pain in her arm this time. Brief dopiness by initial benedryl, then largely unaffected by the drugs. Chauffeured home by Liz.

Deborah’s day: an hour at the oncology clinic seeing Val off to her chemical start. Got a good grip on the new job, 9:00-6:00. Offered chocolate chip scones, 10:30 a.m. Feted with popsicles, 4:00. Caused irreparable copier jam, 4:45. Confessed, 4:50. Absolved by administrative assistant with techno powers, 4:58.

Tuley’s day: hung out with Lisa, who cleaned much of the house in V & D’s absence. Evening: partied with long stream of guests, one of whom was about her size and wanted her to play Go to Bed (Tuley declined). Gnawed on sweet potato dog chew. Met new neighbor dog on walk and was not eaten.

Val’s current state: Sleepy. Bald. Slightly sneezy (allergies). Feelin’ A-ok. Talking on cell phone on porch.

Deborah’s current state: Sleepy. Itchy eyes (allergies). Quite hairy. Replete with wonderful dinner lovingly concocted by sterling friends.

All’s well.
