Improvements continue. Today Val is more alert, in a lot less pain, needing fewer drugs, and breathing so much better than last week it is truly amazing. Tonight she was quietly talking and laughing and even singing a little, with only the occasional dry catch or cough. She went up and down the stairs as needed, no big deal. She’s eating, too (and didn’t throw up once today), despite the radiation-induced discomfort in her esophagus. And she is bemused at the way we all keep gawping at her.

Gawping from afar…and celebrating, too! Woohoo! Grateful for reprieves, large & small.
