Montana heart

Just when you think things are settling down for five minutes…

Val got a call from her dad in Montana yesterday (Wednesday).  Miles said he’d been feeling a trifle weak, went to the town clinic and discovered that his heart rate is currently about 40 beats per minute.  Which is alarmingly low.  His family has a history of heart trouble, and he himself had a quadruple bypass several years ago.  He also has diabetes.  Anyway, they have him scheduled for a stress test in Kalispell (the nearest hospital, an hour away) on Friday, and he asked if Val could come.

So we packed her up last night and she left this morning at the traditionally hideous hour of 5:30 for the drive to Eureka, where she fetched up safely 10 hours later.

Tomorrow (after Miles drives the morning school bus route) they’ll head to Kalispell to see what’s next.  Apparently there was speculative talk at the clinic of a possible stent, or even heart surgery.

We’d be grateful if you’d keep Miles, Betty (Val’s mom) and the family in your thoughts.  I’ll keep you posted.

Deborah
