rosehips

rosehips in Troutdale

Four months ago today we lost our Val. I miss her all day, every day. The ache winds like a fugue-melody through the background of everything. The days are filled with things that don’t quite become real because I don’t get to show them to her.

I wanted to show her these rosehips. We would have played Vague Science: invoked birds and vitamin C, and wondered if they could be eaten raw. She probably would have bitten one.

  1. Unlike the people on Facebook, I was going to remark that Val might be lucky she can’t bite a rosehip. At least those shriveled ones don’t look so delicious. 🙂

On the other hand. Were you on the Hungary trip where Eva gave us the rosehip jam? That was good stuff. Maybe it is sad Val isn’t here to bite the rosehip after all.

But I do know it’s sad that Val isn’t here, rosehips or no rosehips. No two ways about it.
