traveling

Dears,

We are heading home to Portland for a short time. Betty probably has days to live, but Val’s energy and breathing are worsening, even with oxygen, so we need to get her back for treatment. OHSU is trying to get us an appointment with a radiation  oncologist for Thursday to see if Val might benefit again from palliative radiation. After that there is a possibility of trying another drug. We will come back to the ranch as soon as is feasible; certainly for Betty’s funeral.

Between Val’s energy and my feet, it’ll take us two days to do the drive home. We leave this afternoon and should be home by Wednesday evening.

I’m sitting here at the dining table by the south windows overlooking the first field. Down below, the renter’s bulls are breakfasting on a big bale of hay, arrayed in a circle like the fat black spokes of a yellow wheel.  It’s a beautiful sunny day for a drive.

Love,

D

  1. Travel safe. Have a possible work trip in April to the states, and was hoping to come soon anyway, so fingers crossed. Will keep you posted.
